Getting iN

You now know what In Magazine is, but we wonder, would you like to get involved? If the answer is “yes” we’re glad to hear it.

Do you have a band? Sing? Made a movie? Produced provocative art? Holding a festival? Let us know! We’d love to review your work and/or talk to you about in an interview. Would you like to share your experiences in “the biz” by blogging about it? We’d love to know that too.

Are you a budding journalist? Do you write, take pictures, or do both? Do you have an avid interest in new media? Well, we might be looking for someone just like you then. E-mail editor Adam A. Donaldson at adam[at]inmagazine[dot]com if you’re interested in contributing to any area of In Magazine. Sadly, this isn’t paying work (Yet.) but if you’re looking to build experience and your resume while cultivating contacts in the local indie arts scene, then you’ve come to the right place.

So keeping that in mind, here’s how In Magazine breaks down:

Events – Got an event in the area that you’d like people to know about? Send that information our way and we’ll post it on the In Scene Events Listing.

Film – There’s a vibrant and thriving independent film scene in the region, and we think more people should know about it. From small comedies to fright night features, from films on the festival circuit to 24 hour film challenges, area filmmakers are always making waves.

In Culture – This section of the website is about issues concerning the arts in Southwestern Ontario. From the struggle for funding to finding an audience to postering bylaws, In Culture is about shining a light on issues that matter to artists.

Live/Performance – Sandwiched in an area between several major theatre festivals, let’s not forget that we’ve got a lot of talent actors, writers and directors on the stages of our towns. Spoken word. Poetry slam. Live theatre. We’ll cover it all.

Music – Home to several renowned bands and the proving ground were several more got their start, Southwestern Ontario has one of the most diverse and acclaimed music scenes in the whole of Canada. Be a part of it by taking in a show, listening to some new tunes and talking to the vibrant collection of musicians who call the Tri-Cities home.

POP Watch – Because show business doesn’t end outside the Tri-City limits (haha!), we leave the door open to discuss aspects of Hollywood and popular culture brought to you by the unique voices of our writing staff.

Print – Literature and graphic novels. Print on demand has made it easier than ever for budding authors and novelists to get their work to the masses. Let local writers and artists share theirs with you.
